Marina Rae Trejo has been studying movement and wellness since early childhood, her young life permeated by ballet and violin, raised on the beaches of Southern California in a unique family that included off the beaten path homeschooling, VW vans and plenty of nature.

Marina was first exposed to the Pilates method as a teenager in the early 90's  by the beloved and late Julian Littleford, of JL Body Conditioning, Del Mar CA., a former Principle Martha Graham dancer and much esteemed leader in the Pilates community. Julian first sparked her interest in this movement technique which was then very much under the radar, and helped mold what would be a lifelong interest in geometry, design and shape with regard to movement. During her college years, she apprenticed with Astrid de Wild, of de Wild Pilates Studios, Santa Barbara CA., a 4 years long teaching apprenticeship, styled under the earlier traditions of Mr. Pilates and his partner Clara Pilates’ apprenticeship mentoring, where knowledge was passed down from teacher to student, endowing Marina a rich understanding of the method and an indelible education in how to teach, how to see and how to listen to people's bodies. After relocating to NYC in 2000 and eventually changing careers from fashion back to movement, she taught  at Power Pilates New York and concurrently opened the beloved Williamsburg, Brooklyn Pilates studio, happy now flat belly alongside fellow founder Jessie Zalla, of Zalla Pilates, where the studio’s emphasis was based on education, excellence and community.

Marina has continued her examination of alternative modalities and holistic health practices, studying anatomy with Irene Dowd of Movement Research, receiving her 200 hour Yoga Alliance Certification through Om Yoga, New York NY. She joined the inaugural teacher-training program with The Class by Taryn Toomey, New York NY in 2015 and is a licensed board-certified esthetician through the State of New York, 2011.

She has been featured in Vogue, NY Magazine, NY Times and T Magazine.

She currently offers in person movement classes in North Brooklyn, on site and online private movement, nutritional and wellness sessions in Manhattan and Brooklyn, online and in person classes with The Class and is an esthetician with Practise, a NYC based boutique skincare space.
